Victorian multi-day music festival Beyond The Valley is gearing up for its 2024/25 return, and festival organizers have just dropped an intriguing teaser video that hints at this year’s theme: "Experience Life in Technicolour."
The video, which pays homage to classic films like Pleasantville and The Wizard of Oz, portrays people living in a black-and-white world, with anything related to the festival bursting into vibrant colour. This creative approach is meant to highlight the joy and vibrancy that festivals bring to our lives. The teaser video’s soundtrack, "If U Need It" by UK producer Sammy Virji, suggests that Virji will be part of this year’s lineup. Additionally, the video hints at performances by Joy Anonymous and Teenage Dads.
In a statement, Christian Serrao, the co-founder and Managing Partner of Untitled Group, which presents Beyond The Valley and other festivals like Pitch, Ability Fest, Wildlands, and Grapevine Gathering, explained the inspiration behind the teaser:
"We wanted to take a different approach to launch Beyond The Valley this year. Amid ongoing discussions surrounding the challenges festivals face globally, we aim to remind everyone of the joy and vibrancy that festivals bring to people’s lives. Our teaser video encapsulates this by portraying ordinary life as dull and monochrome, which comes to life and colour through Beyond The Valley."
Beyond The Valley will return during the New Year’s period, from 27 December 2024 to 1 January 2025. Other teased artists for the festival include Joy (Anonymous), Teenage Dads, Confidence Man and DJ Boring.
