The highly anticipated debut of the Sudden Little Thrills music festival in Pittsburgh has been cancelled, as announced by the event’s promoters on Tuesday. Originally scheduled for September 7th and 8th at Hazelwood Green, the festival was set to feature a diverse lineup with headliners SZA and The Killers, alongside a variety of other artists spanning pop, rock, hip-hop, and electronic music.

In a statement posted on the festival’s website, the organizers expressed their disappointment: "We were excited to bring a new world-class music festival to Pittsburgh, however, due to circumstances beyond our control, the Sudden Little Thrills Festival will not take place in 2024." They assured that tickets purchased through Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded within 30 days to the original method of payment.

The festival's producer, C3 Presents, has yet to provide a detailed explanation for the cancellation. Meanwhile, the primary stakeholders for Hazelwood Green, including the Richard King Mellon Foundation, The Heinz Endowment, and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, expressed their disappointment but reaffirmed their commitment to bringing live performances to the venue.

Pittsburgh, with its history of successfully hosting major concerts, remains optimistic about future events at Hazelwood Green, despite the setback of losing what promised to be an exciting new addition to the city's vibrant music scene.
