Earth Frequency Festival has confirmed that Infected Mushroom will no longer be performing at its 20th anniversary edition this October. The psychedelic trance duo have withdrawn from the 2025 lineup, with organisers issuing a public statement expressing disappointment over the artist’s decision and addressing the broader context behind the cancellation.

According to Earth Frequency, Infected Mushroom’s departure comes after a wave of public pressure and an online campaign calling for their removal, sparked by debates surrounding the artist’s nationality and the political situation in the Middle East. The festival clarified that while they did not plan to cancel the act, Infected Mushroom chose to step away from the lineup, reportedly framing their exit as a response to the festival becoming “unnecessarily politicised”.

In a detailed and heartfelt statement, Earth Frequency acknowledged the complexity of the situation. “People expect more from their cultural platforms in 2025,” the statement reads, emphasising the need to engage with community concerns while rejecting hate and discrimination. The organisers reaffirmed their commitment to inclusivity, stating they would never boycott artists based solely on nationality.
