Hello Sunshine Festival, a beloved all-ages event, has announced the cancellation of its 2025 edition. The festival, which was set to mark its third year, had plans to expand to Queensland for the first time, with events scheduled for March 1st in Melbourne and March 8th on the Gold Coast. Unfortunately, a combination of economic pressures and slower-than-expected ticket sales led to the difficult decision.
The festival had promised a diverse lineup featuring Stone Temple Pilots, Smash Mouth, and Wolfmother. However, organisers cited the current financial climate and Australia’s cost of living crisis as major factors in their statement, explaining that the forecasted ticket sales didn’t meet expectations.
“This was not an easy decision, but ensuring the best possible experience for our fans is always our priority,” the statement read.
Promoter Danny Grant elaborated in a TikTok video, noting that expanding to the Gold Coast proved to be a significant challenge. While they considered scaling back to one city, it would have increased costs dramatically.
Despite the setback, there’s a silver lining for fans of Stone Temple Pilots. The band will perform additional dates in Melbourne and the Gold Coast. Existing ticket holders can transfer their tickets or request a refund.
