Field Day 2025 in Sydney’s Domain kicked off the new year with a fresh direction, embracing a 100% dance lineup that resonated with the crowd in all the right ways. The shift away from rap, which had been part of the festival in recent years, allowed the electronic music to truly shine, creating an electric atmosphere that lasted all day.
Chase & Status, Pendulum, RL Grime, Meduza, and Luude were just some of the big names on the lineup, delivering high-energy performances that kept the crowd dancing from start to finish. The focus on electronic music worked wonders, drawing in punters who were all there for the beats. It was a welcomed change, as fans were able to immerse themselves in an entirely electronic atmosphere, without the usual genre blending.
BUNT. kicked things off with his signature energy, quickly building momentum for the day. His performance was packed to the edge of the stage and even at one point he jumped into the audience to join those moshing. RL Grime, making his return to Field Day after his last performance in 2020, was another highlight of the festival. One festivalgoer summed it up perfectly in the That Festival Site Discord: “RL Grime was insane, couldn't stop raving about it!” Another added, “Even with a hangover from NYE, this was one of the best Field Days I’ve done in years.”
There were a few clashes between headliners, such as Horsegiirl and Chase & Status, but both delivered standout performances that kept the crowd fully engaged. The staggered set times gave festivalgoers the chance to explore different sounds, and while some had to choose between two major acts, it was clear no one left disappointed. “Chase & Status and HorsegiirL clashing was tough, but both halves of the set I caught were 12/10” one attendee shared in the Discord community.
The production this year was top-notch, with bold visuals, impressive lighting, and booming sound systems that enhanced the overall experience. The staging and design were expertly done, and it was clear that no detail was overlooked. One person from the community remarked, “The visuals were sick. Every set felt bigger and hotter than the last.” Despite the usual New Year's Eve hangovers, the crowd’s energy remained high throughout the day. From the start to the very last set, everyone seemed to be fully immersed in the music.
Field Day 2025 successfully embraced the 100% dance format, and the change brought a new level of energy to the festival. With great performances, solid production, and an enthusiastic crowd, this year's edition proved to be one of the best in recent memory. Looking ahead, it seems like the electronic-only direction has a solid future, and if this year’s festival is any indication, Field Day 2026 is shaping up to be another standout event.
