The UK’s acclaimed Americana-focused Black Deer Festival has announced the cancellation of its 2025 edition, citing financial challenges. The festival, which has been a cornerstone of the Americana music scene for the past seven years, faced rising production costs and unpredictable ticket sales, leading organizers to make the difficult decision.
Chris Russell-Fish, Managing Director of Black Deer Group, explained the decision: “Due to the widely reported pressures on the festival industry, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone Black Deer Festival 2025. This was not an easy choice, but it is currently not feasible to proceed next summer.”
While the festival is on pause, Black Deer Group has launched Black Deer Live and Black Deer Radio to keep its vibrant community engaged. The initiative includes 44 live shows scheduled across the UK in 2025, with plans for additional events to expand its audience throughout the year.
Despite the hiatus, co-founder Gill Tee assured fans of the festival’s return in 2026, emphasizing the team’s commitment to the Americana community. “This is not the end of the Black Deer story,” Tee said. “We are so proud of all we’ve achieved and look forward to welcoming fans back when we return.”
