BE Social Fest has confirmed it will not return in 2026, with organisers announcing the Cairns-based festival is being paused due to rising operational costs and ongoing financial pressures. The event, which last took place in October 2025 at Cairns Showgrounds, has built a strong community following since its debut in 2021.
In a statement, organisers cited increasing inflation and the challenges of delivering a large-scale music festival in a regional city as key factors behind the decision. Despite operating at a loss in 2025, the team chose to proceed with last year’s edition to honour commitments to attendees and maintain trust within the local community.
The 2025 lineup featured a diverse mix of Australian and international acts including Matt Corby, Bliss N Eso, Karnivool, Ruby Fields and Sneaky Sound System, alongside electronic names such as Baauer, ShockOne and Yolanda Be Cool. The event continued to showcase a broad spectrum of genres while highlighting both established and emerging artists.
Looking ahead, organisers have confirmed they will spend 2026 reassessing the festival’s future, with a focus on sustainability and potential partnerships. Discussions are already underway with brands and sponsors to support a possible return, signalling that while BE Social Fest is paused for now, it may yet re-emerge in the years to come.
